TITLE: Capacity Building Officer

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Sponsorship/Programs Development and Quality

LOCATION: Assiut

GRADE: 4

CONTRACT LENGTH: FTA (Dec. 017-With Possible Extension)

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3 – The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

ROLE PURPOSE: The Capacity Building Officer provides support to a pilot initiative which is supporting the organizational development and other capacity building priorities of Save the Children’s partners with our Sponsorship program. The Capacity Building Officer will focus her/his effort to support capacity building activities which form part of organizational capacity development plans developed with sponsorship program partners in Assuit. This entails a consistent effort to ensure that all capacity building activities are implemented as per the capacity building plan and according to SC’s standards of quality.

The post will also work to ensure that the data requested by the Capacity Building Specialist is collected in a timely manner to contribute to lessons learned this initiative and ensure effective documentation of the implemented activities with the partners. This post requires a high level of coordination with all involved parties to ensure proper joint planning of activities with all sponsorship projects and partners.

SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Assuit Program Manager; with technical support and supervision by the Capacity Building Specialist

Number of direct reports: None

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Capacity Development

  • Following up on the implemented capacity development activities with the partners to ensure proper implementation of the tools and methodologies
  • Ensuring the integration of the tools delivered in the training interventions with the partners’ systems to achieve sustainable change on the organizational level
  • Ensuring the dissemination of knowledge and skills in the organization
  • Conducting training workshops to participants on different topics and/or co-facilitates workshops
  • Writes comprehensive post training reports ‘i.e. feedback on participants performance, statistical analysis of the pre/post test scores’

Coordination

  • Coordinating with different stakeholders to ensure proper planning of activities and avoiding any conflicts in schedules
  • Coordinating with external consultants and provided the needed support; in terms of the needed tools for any interventions or any other requests to facilitate their work

Documentation

  • Collecting data on timely manner and documenting the capacity building activities implemented with the partners
  • Keeping an updated profile to the partners to benchmark the development stages in each area of the capacity development plans

Administrative

  • Processing financial payments and settlements with the finance department and providing all the needed supporting documents
  • Providing all needed documents for the procurement department for any purchases needed for the capacity development activities with the partners
  • Handling all administrative tasks necessary to facilitate the implementation of the capacity development activities ‘i.e. tools, stationary, printing materials..etc.’

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or post-secondary degree is a must
  • 4-6 years of professional experience; 2 of which in the development context
  • Previous experience in the capacity development of NGOs and CDAs is highly valued
  • Previous experience with international Nonprofit organizations is preferred
  • Average or high English language command is needed ‘written and spoken’
  • Very good competency in MS office programs ‘word, excel, power point’
  • Structured and organized personality with attention to details
  • Problem solver and communicates effectively with others
