In Kenya, UMB has been a key technical resource for the Ministry of Health for over 10 years with support in formulation of policy, standards and guidelines; pre-service and in-service education programs; HIV & TB clinical services delivery and research.
UMB Kenya is seeking to fill a position for a Clinical Officer for a PEPFAR funded program called Partnership for Advanced Clinical Education (PACE)-Kamilisha. The purpose of PACE-K is to strengthen and institutionalize national and devolved systems that coordinate and support training and mentorship to improve Health Care Workers competency for effective high quality HIV service delivery that meet the goals of universal access to treatment and long term epidemic control in the context of dynamic evidence driven programming.
Position: Clinical Officer
Location: Nairobi
Overall Job Summary:** Reporting to the program coordinator, he/she will have the primary responsibility of providing patient case management support through the National HIV Clinical Support Center (NHCSC).
Job description:
- He/she shall be responsible for answering calls, email and other electronic communication from service providers, respond to their queries and provide evidence based directed responses.
- In consultation with the consultant/medical officer provide case management support for referred cases from service providers.
- To prepare communication with service providers in accepted formats and templates and to work collaboratively with a pool of providers.
- Work collaboratively with the available pool of national technical experts to effectively support patient case management through the NHCSC
- Coordinate with service providers to ensure recommended actions for each referred case are implemented and quarterly patient progress reports submitted to the call centre
- Participate in preparation of clinical cases summary reports for presentation at the quarterly clinical TWG meetings
- Prepare monthly/quarterly and annual reports to the ART program Manager on all calls and feedback provided to the clients.
- Participate in the update or review of treatment guidelines by providing feedback to the program on the frequently asked questions.
- Participate in capacity building and mentorship activities at county level
- Participate in periodic technical support and M&E field visits on matters pertaining to the call center.
- Use data accrued from the services the NHCSC to improve services provided, case management and training /mentorship.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in clinical medicine from a reputable institution Certificate in HIV related training
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in HIV settings in clinical management of PLHIV
- Have experience in customer care or public relations
- Experience as a mentor or trainer in HIV care and treatment is an added advantage
