Practical Action Eastern Africa, an international NGO that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries, is seeking to recruit a suitable KENYA NATIONAL to fill this position to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the PAC Manager – Eastern Africa, the Finance and Administration Project Assistant will be responsible for all transactional and administration duties relating to the Practical Action Consulting operations in Eastern Africa.

Among others, the key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensures all financial reports are accurately and timely prepared and submitted as required by Practical Action EA finance/Head Office timetables
  • Ensure procurement of PAC project materials, supplies and equipment are conducted in accordance with Practical Action policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial support to the PAC staff in Nairobi as they design project proposal budgets and negotiate donor contracts
  • Office Admin and correspondence including general correspondences, reports, manuals and memos as well as minutes of meetings
  • Handles training and workshops logistics.
  • In line with Practical Action’s procurement policy and practice, coordinate all international and domestic travel arrangements for PAC staff and PAC consultants including domestic airline tickets, office vehicles and taxis. This extends to working with relevant departments on the procurement of accommodation and local travel where needed.
  • Coordinate PAC events and workshops including booking venues and ensuring availability of all materials and equipment required.

The prospective candidate should possess:

  • At least an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • At least three (3) years experience in a similar position
  • Qualifications in accounting i.e. CPA or ACCA
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office packages as well as accounting packages
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Ability to organise multiple tasks and prioritise appropriately
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
