The Strengthening Transparency Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana (STAR-Ghana) programme has a dual focus – catalysing the efforts of citizens towards systemic change on specific issues, and working towards the creation of a Ghanaian-run corporate entity to sustain support for these efforts beyond the life cycle of the programme. STAR-Ghana is funded by UKAID, DANIDA and the European Union.

About the role

STAR-Ghana is looking to hire a Head of Programmes who will be responsible for leading on the implementation of the programmatic elements of the STAR-Ghana programme. This will include managing and supporting a team with technical input, and ensuring effective management and delivery of the programme and appropriate support for partners. S/he will also play a lead role in ensuring that the PMT is aware of, and meets key programme and donor deadlines; collection, aggregation and dissemination of results delivered by programme partners; and for overall project monitoring and learning activities. The role is responsible for providing representation for programme and country/regional issues where appropriate, and engaging and networking with all relevant actors with relation to the programme.

About you

The successful applicant will have a graduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.  You need to have significant experience in a field-based management position for a complex, multi-sectoral, international development donor programme. You are required to have proven experience in designing, implementing and monitoring capacity strengthening approaches for government and civil society partners.  You have an understanding of accountability with proven experience mentoring and strengthening technical skills of staff and ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders. You should have extensive experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and knowledge management as well as excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations. A master’s degree in the relevant field is an added advantage.
