Head of Support Services (HOSS), South Sudan
An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a proven sector manager, providing strategic oversight and support to the Logistics, Finance, and Human Resource functions for our operational and partnership work in South Sudan.
Currently our programme encompasses both humanitarian (emergency) and recovery response – WASH, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods as well as support of church-led community development projects in partnership with local faith based organisations (NGOs and Churches). The budget currently ranges between £3-4m per annum funded from a range of institutional donors, with a multi cultural team of about 190 national and international staff. Our strategy for the operational work in South Sudan outlines a shift in our focus from emergency response to resilience and peacebuilding activities with a growth in budget to support this to upwards of £5m, over the next six years.
The HOSS role oversees the management of the support function department leaders. This role has specific responsibility for supporting the Country Director in achieving Tearfund’s objectives in South Sudan with efficient and effective support systems. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with donor guidelines; designing and implementing support systems, processes and policies in line with Tearfund Corporate systems and procedures and leading and facilitating change within the programme.
Strong, proven experience gained in the management and implementation of relief and rehabilitation projects with specific skills in people leadership and management is essential. Candidates must also have significant knowledge and experience in supply chain management as well as implementing financial management systems.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level in business administration or financial management, with a proven understanding of current humanitarian and development issues. Excellent written and spoken English, good cross-cultural awareness and a genuine heart for people living in poverty are essential for this role.
All posts involve potential contact with children and vulnerable adults and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.
Applicants must be committed to Tearfund’s Christian beliefs. This is an unaccompanied role.
