The Community Aids Response (CARe) aims to be the preferred organisation partnering with individuals and communities to find and cross the bridge that provides hope, opportunity and choices over HIV and AIDS and other chronic/communicable diseases in order to promote the well-being and sustainability of communities.

CARe seeks to appoint a Human Resource Officer, based in Norwood, Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will provide HR Services to the organisation, employees, line managers and Administrative services to the whole organisation.

Reports to: Finance and HR Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff recruitment and selection process in order to ensure a timely organised and comprehensive procedure when hiring staff
  • Coordinate staff performance appraisals
  • Provide information and assistance to staff and supervisors on human resource and work related issues
  • Monitor staff performance and attendance activities
  • Provide support to supervisors and staff to develop skills and capabilities of staff
  • Lead and mentor managers and supervisors on the disciplinary hearings and attend to CCMA matters
  • Prepare reports for the Management Team, Board and Donor
  • Prepare training plans for each unit
  • Prepare and lodge SARS returns timeously and accurately in e-filing
  • Update the UIF System monthly
  • Manage the group life and medical aid enrolments and deregistration
  • Manage all the units leave and produce leave reports and file all forms
  • Collect all timesheets and update the donor reports with information
  • Update the Human Resource database with all collated information
  • Other related duties as and when assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Human Resource or Labour Law
  • Minimum three years’ experience in HR
  • Experience in a managerial role
  • A sound understanding of SA labour legislation, Human Resource policies, processes and procedure
  • Understanding of the SARS e-filing and UIF system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational, communication, computer, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Technical writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
