ANIMAL ETHICS UNIT PARA-PROFESSIONAL – QUALIFIED THROUGH SA VETERINARY COUNCIL OR SIMILAR RELEVANT DEGREE (B.Sc Zoology):   
This position demands:

  • that the successful candidate will be able to inspect animal research facilities and various related sites to assess research protocols and the humane treatment of research practices.
  • that this person will have a strong animal welfare knowledge and be able to enforce animal welfare standards and ethics, and possibly come from a Laboratory background in animal research.
  • Will serve on the Institutional and Senate Ethics Committees for assessment of research protocols and welfare standards.
  • Investigation of alleged reports of animal cruelty or neglect.
  • The attendance of international and national conferences, seminars and workshops relevant to this field, and to develop and maintain working relationships that would aid the effectiveness of the organisation.  Extensive local travel is necessary.
  • Report writing and administration
  • Able to work unemotionally when dealing with animals in research or distress.
  • Must pass Animal Inspectorate examination, and have valid driver’s licence and car.

SENIOR  FUNDRAISER
National animal welfare organisation is looking to appoint a well-experienced Fundraiser in Gauteng, who has strong background in Marketing.

  • You will have a strong proven record of Fundraising and we are only considering successful fundraisers are generating an income of more than R5-R6 m each year.
  • Strong links to corporates, businesses, Trusts and Foundations as well as to individual high nett worth individuals would be a high recommendation.
  • Your passion will be ANIMAL WELFARE and you will have a strong understanding of the target market who relate to this cause and to generate sustainable income in this sector.    Working with the Communications Manager, you will assist with Public Relations and Media, to create visibility and awareness in the public sector, and other arenas which would add to generating income to sustain this organisation.
  • You will be a highly motivated self-starter, who has energy and commitment to ensure that existing stakeholders and donors are nurtured and cared for, as well as being able to generate new leads, connections and excellent results in a difficult economic market.
  • You will have own vehicle, a valid driver’s licence and able to work outside of normal working hours at times, with events marketing campaigns and functions.
