Programme background

The Institutions for Inclusive Development (I4ID) programme goal is to enhance governance and democracy for inclusive growth and service provision. I4ID is an adaptive programme that will continually consider the complex environments and changing circumstances of the political and economic landscape. The I4ID programme is a five-year DFID funded programme running until June 2021. While Tanzania’s economy has grown at over 7% for more than a decade, patterns of growth and service delivery have meant that Tanzania’s economic progress has provided little for the poor. The Institutions for Inclusive Development (I4ID) is trying to address this issue through innovative programming using locally driven solutions. The goal is to work with government, representative institutions, civil society and the private sector so that economic growth and social services bring more benefits to the poor and excluded people. In the process, key lessons will be learned about how to help governance work better in the interests of youth, women and the poor, mapping a path towards a more inclusive pattern of growth and development in the future.
