Sightsavers has an exciting vacancy for a Programme Epidemiologist to join our team to be based in either Ghana, Cameroon or Senegal. You will join our team and support specific NTD research projects and provide a technical oversight of our NTD work. You will have a focus on the implementation of the Sightsavers Onchocerciasis/Lymphatic Filariasis and Trachoma Fast Track Initiatives.

The position reports to the NTD Technical Advisor and will coordinate and provide operational support to the NTD projects through planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Control of Infectious Diseases or equivalent from a recognised University.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in an INGO environment; experience in conducting Epidemiological studies in low-income countries and experience of developing monitoring & evaluation frameworks for communicable diseases. You must possess sound knowledge of NTD’s and be able to present effectively to internal and external audiences. Experience and understanding of government systems particularly the health sector will be advantageous.

You will have strong interpersonal, communication, capacity building or facilitation skills; ability to work under minimum supervision; ability to work with project budgets and computer literate. French speaking is essential and the willingness to travel up to 16 weeks per year.
