The Global Interfaith Network for People of All Sexes, Sexual Orientations, Gender Identities and Expressions (GIN-SSOGIE) is a global facilitating and convening organization that provides our members and partners the information, networks, collaborative work opportunities, and structures to accomplish strategic, necessary, and meaningful gains for the LGBTIQA movement through the use of faith-based strategies.
We offer a full-time contract position for a Programme Manager.
Basic Parameters:
Travel: up to 30% travel may be required
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Summary
The Programme Manager is an ambassador, trainer, public speaker, and organizer who is dedicated to the holistic development of the organization. They will be called up on to convene and coordinate members, perform in congruence with the expectations of multiple stakeholders, document and disseminate their work products, and actively participate in the technological, educational, strategic, and financial aspects of the organization.
Expectations of Competency
- Program management capacity that extends to membership, curriculum, financial management, volunteer supervision, and successful implementation on-site or online of deliverables
- Sharp intellect for political analysis at the global and local levels;
- Ability to develop the leadership of our members through training, networking, and resourcing;
- Strong speaking and written communication skills that marry political analysis with community-oriented education;
- Comfort, curiosity, and cultural competency in engaging in faith-based organising and/or spiritual communities;
- A commitment to cultivating faith and spirit-based narratives as central to our strength and uniqueness;
- Highly developed communication skills in English (other languages, especially Spanish or Portuguese will be an advantage);
- Facility in grant management, documentation, and reporting on deliverables, expenditures, and qualitative measurable (stories, quotes, videos, and/or photos);
- Some working knowledge, and willingness to increase this skillset, of some formal human rights mechanisms, such as the United Nations or the African Union;
- Skills in implementing an online communications strategy that engages and expands our membership and increases GIN’s footprint in the movement;
- Engaging members, stakeholders and colleagues on a one-to-one and one-to-many basis to create a sense of relationship, accountability, and belonging.
Minimum requirements:
NGO experience, particularly in management of programmes
Right to work in the Republic of South Africa
Experience in working within the LGBTIQA community
Driver’s License
Salary is negotiable and depends on experience.
