TechnoServe Nige ria, in partnership with a leading foundation, plans to help cassava farmers increase their production of high-quality cassava. This will be achieved by improving the adoption of good agronomics practices and creating market linkages with guaranteed offtake by Diageo Nigeria. The objectives of this project are to increase farmer incomes, enhanced food security and reduced vulnerability for smallholder farmers, particularly women. The project will work closely with farmers and a cassava processor to increase the availability of cassava tubers throughout the year to secure a consistent supply to the processor.

The Project Manager will oversee the project design and implementation, provide timely and accurate project reports, provide technical, market and expertise services for project beneficiaries, facilitate stakeholder relationships and performance management. It should be understood that the tasks outlined below are the key responsibilities, but the employee is expected to perform any tasks that are necessary within the context of the evolving needs of the program.

As Project Manager- Cassava you will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive project implementation plan with a clear path for priority activities for all relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate the activities of the project team to deliver results in line with the approved project plan and budget
  • Manage project resources and adequately align the resources to the program design to the overall objectives are met
  • Ensure that the project budget is spent in line with TNS policies and the agreed donor activities
  • In conjunction with the corporate measurements team, ensure that all necessary data are gathered efficiently and accurately
  • Lead preparation of project reports for submission to donors according to the project timeline and log frame
  • Manage the project team; provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to implementing team members
  • Ensure that the scope and impact of the different work plan activities are clearly defined and understood by all team members, including a clear understanding of roles, responsibilities, and short-term activities and goals
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with key local and national level personnel in government and in the private organizations that have an interest in the sector
  • Monitor interactions with important national level stakeholders, ensuring that the team’s communication is consistent and aligned with the program’s approach
  • Ensure strict compliance with TechnoServe policies and raise any concerns with management
  • Oversee the implementation of a plan that helps resolve any occasional discrepancies and irregularities
  • Strict adherence to timeframe of assignments in project life-scope
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned

You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in English
  • At least 5 years in capacities relating to either agribusiness, marketing, SME development or advisory services
  • Training and experience working in M4P projects
  • Track record of building and managing strong client and stakeholder relationships with private, public sector and government
  • Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports
  • Excellent communication, analytical and strategy skills
  • Confident with project management and reporting
  • Experience with relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel
