Purpose of Position

The Communication and Reporting Officer is responsible for ensuring that all information and data pertaining the project is captured, documented, analyzed and reported and filed to contribute the evidence-base for program learning and communication. The officer leads in the compilation of routine reports on behalf of the program. The Communication and Reporting Officer is responsible for a comprehensive communications strategy and plan for the IGATE program for internal and external audiences.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

Communication

  • Develop, implement and monitor a communication and visibility plan to facilitate better understanding among partners and government about IGATE as a project and program progress.
  • Manage effective communications, visibility and knowledge management within IGATE and to external audience.
  • Undertake field visits to gather information and results related to the program
  • Develop visibility material such as leaflets, monthly newsletters, annual reports.
  • Collaborate with communications team in WVZ, the Education and Lifeskills team of the Global Center, WVUK and IGATE partner organizations to prepare and disseminate high quality communications products including an active website.
  • Manage and oversee the program branding and marketing strategy on behalf of the consortium including the development and monitoring of the effective use of the program logo, donor and fund manager branding requirements and partner recognition expectations.
  • Share stories and videos for special events.
  • Help develop and support the advocacy strategy of IGATE through effective documentation and communication pieces
  • Support program staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and field visits as required
  • Ensure ethical protocols are observed in all communications pieces including maintaining a file of high quality photos and stories including all waivers/clearances by photo subjects for ethical use in communications pieces.

Program Officer Duties

  • Contribute substantially to the proposal development process including revisions and any additional funding opportunities that leverage the IGATE project
  • With input from the monitoring and evaluation team and Program Co-ordinators, help produce high quality program progress reports as per donor requirements.
  • Provide high quality editing and formatting for all program related documents.
  • Participate in IGATE consortium technical working groups to assist in capture of new knowledge/learning and support effective risk mitigation and progress reporting.
  • Provide relevant expert services to the project management unit, program components and implementing partners on reporting and communications and act as a facilitator or trainer;
  • Provide through progress reporting continuous analysis of the achievements, facilitate project review, evaluation and audits;
  • Develop and communicate a key events and reporting schedule on behalf of the program director and technical team.
  • Ensure the maintenance of sound filing system and appropriate use and recording of all project experience, activities and results.
  • Capture key decisions and discussions within the technical working group in minutes.
  • Edit and file the program ‘technical note’ series in collaboration with the technical managers.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Social Sciences Degree/ Mass Media or any related fields.
  • 2 years relevant working experience.
  • S/he should have an extensive experience in communication and diffusion strategies and techniques, reporting, documentation, publication, and audio-visual material preparation in relation to conservation and development fields.

Other Competencies/Attributes

  • S/he should possess excellent writing, editing.
  • S/he should be well versed in the latest electronic publishing and graphics methods.
  • Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation and good communication, social, and interpersonal skills.
  • S/he must be well versed in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Additional software skills such as Corel Draw, desktop publishing an advantage.
  • Ability to create new ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative contributions.
