IREX seeks short to medium term technical assistants (STTA/MTTA) for a USAID-funded Morocco Career Center Development program which seeks to increase access to quality career services in Morocco.
The STTA/MTTAs, who must have excellent operational knowledge of the US career center model and business proficiency French, will work closely with the local program team in Rabat to provide technical support and training to career center staff in Marrakech, Casablanca and Tangier. Activities may include career center strategy planning, in-person training, and the development of career center policies, procedures and events.
To ensure continuity, we seek STTA/MTTA who can make multiple trips to Morocco over the life of the program. The duration and frequency of assignments is negotiable according to availability but we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with availability in August 2016.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Build the capacity of the Career Centers by developing training and capacity-building plans
- Work with the career center staff to develop career center strategies, service schedules, policies and procedures
- Develop and deliver formal training and coaching on a range of topics relevant to career centers and workforce development
- Provide technical expertise and input into the development of the Career Centers including the co-development of products and services.
- Work with Career Center staff to ensure a successful transition of these centers into sustainable career centers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of career counseling and demonstrated success managing career development centers, particularly in the US.
- Familiarity with the latest research, tools, and methodologies in the field of career counseling
- Expertise in delivering training to diverse audiences with varying levels of education
- Ability to give effective presentations and write high quality technical reports
- Strong multi-cultural, inter-personal, and supervision skills
- Familiarity with multi-media and IT solutions in relation to career counseling
- Strong ability to collaborate and coordinate activities with multiple stakeholders including government, education, business and individuals
- Business proficiency, written and spoken, in English and French (Arabic a plus) Professional working proficiency (Level 3) is acceptable; full professional proficiency (Level 4) is preferred
- Experience engaging private sector and educational institutions to collaborate on employment and employability programs an advantage
- A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in the field of career development, preferably 3 or more years in a developing country context and 3 or more years in MENA
- Advanced knowledge of Morocco’s higher education and vocational education systems an advantage
- A Master’s Degree in an appropriate interdisciplinary subject such as education, counseling and guidance, student personnel or related field an advantage
