Africa!Ignite is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s leading rural development agencies. The organisation uses our extensive rural footprint to partner with communities, especially woman and youths, so that they can participate fairly in the economy and society and make their voices heard.

Africa!Ignite seeks to appoint a Franchise Coordinator for our sustainable community-based tourism programme implemented across seven rural destinations in KwaZulu-Natal.

WOWZULU Responsible Tourism is a sustainable community-based tourism model implemented across seven rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal. WOWZULU’s GOAL is to create sustainable jobs and business opportunities for hundreds of rural craft producers and tourism entrepreneurs. The ‘big idea’ is to ignite the potential of small community tourism enterprises by linking them into commercial tourists routes and markets, and by giving them strong international and national marketing and sales support.

Responsibilities:

  • Create local ownership and ensure profits stay in rural areas
  • Safeguard the integrity of the WOWZULU brand
  • Ensure standardised, quality service delivery across all WOWZULU franchises
  • Ensure role clarity among stakeholders
  • Achieve a balance between local ownership and centralised training, mentoring, marketing and control
  •  There are currently 7 WOWZULU Marketplaces that operate as WOWZULU franchisees across KwaZulu-Natal
  • Monitor the operations of local WOWZULU Marketplace franchisees and
  • Provide mentoring and support to them on behalf of Africa!Ignite as WOWZULU franchisor, in order to protect the integrity of the WOWZULU franchise brand and to help ensure that individual WOWZULU franchisees and the overall franchise operation trade successfully and sustainably

Requirements:

  • Business background
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Able and willing to travel, with own vehicle
  • Facilitation skills
  • An understanding of rural development
  • Ability to speak IsiZulu
  • Some management/coordination experience
  • Some knowledge of retail, craft and/or tourism/hospitality (a recommendation
