The International Potato Center is seeking to recruit highly qualified Accounting Analyst.

The Position: The Accounting Analyst will be required to assist the Finance Team in order to achieve Unit´s goals. He/she will be based in Lilongwe and reporting to the Finance and Administrative Officer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries by compiling, analyzing, and substantiating financial transactions as needed;
  • Reconcile accounts as requested;
  • Perform internal audits as needed to ensure internal controls;
  • Support the Finance and Administration officer, in the monitoring of Office and project budgets;
  • Support the Finance and Administration officer and PMU Specialists, in the monitoring and review of partner reports;
  • Research, track and resolve accounting problems;
  • Assist in month end/quarterly/year end close process and reporting;
  • Assist in external and internal audit of projects and institutional;
  • Contribute to team effort by assisting other accounting staff when necessary.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or Financial Management;
  • At least 3 years of experience required in similar position;
  • Advanced level in MS Office, especially in Excel;
  • Advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical skills;
  • Advanced Knowledge in software solutions (ERP);
  • Advanced level in written and spoken English;
  • Experience on EU and GIZ guidelines will be an added advantage;
