Abraham Kriel Childcare (AKC) is a registered NPO that provides both residential care and community services within Gauteng. AKC focuses on providing shelter, care, rehabilitation and skills development for children and youth, who have been subjected to trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty, HIV/AIDS and neglect.

AKC seeks to appoint an Administration and Payroll Officer, based at Head Office in Langlaagte, Johannesburg.

Report to: Human Resource Manager

The purpose of the position deals with all spheres of people processes of the organisation and ensuring delivery of the HR value chain. The incumbent’s actions will be in accordance with policies of the Board of Directors as well as National law and statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Human Resource Administration
  • Well-developed administrative skills
  • Fluent in English as well as Afrikaans and one African language would be an added advantage
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Payroll packages, Power Point)
  • Effective listening, written and communication skills
  • Minimum of five years working experience
  • Maintain standards of conduct in dealing with confidential matters
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Completer / finisher, ability to see tasks through to the end
  • Ability to priorities effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

Currently AKC operates 21 (incl. baby unit) houses for children and carries out 6 community care programmes that provide food, shelter, pastoral care, remedial care, social services, skills development services and early childhood development. Our activities include: Care in a normal home setup for abused, molested, abandoned and neglected children. Support for children whose lives have been ruined by Aids. Our organisation is growing rapidly in this regard. Early childhood development and outreach programmes to disadvantaged communities with the aim of preventing family disintegration. Skills development for youth that need to access the marketplace. In all our approaches we are connected to long term, comprehensive care which touches and strengthens all our children, so that they have the opportunity to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
