GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.

In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors. GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit a cashier for the Biodiversity and Forest programme as specified below.

 

Position:     Administrative and Financial Officer

Place of Work:    Addis Ababa (with trips to Ilu Babor Zone, Oromia)

Summary of duties and responsibilities

 

  • Special coordination of all administrative and financial issues of the project
  • Delivery of all kind of administrative and financial services to the programme
  • Coordination of administrative and financial affairs – focus on sustainable delivery chains
  • Follow up all administrative and financial affairs in the daily project life
  • Support to the head of Finance at BFP

 Tasks

 

Special coordination Task

  • The accountant coordinates her/his work closely with the project manager, head of finance and the controller
  • She/He focuses on the sustainable delivery chain project and takes over responsibility in Addis and in the field

Delivery of all kind of administrative and financial services

  • To promote the flux of information between all administrative processes
  • To make sure, that all concerned technical personnel is well informed about financial flows and the rules and regulations of GIZ in the project
  • To ensure the approval and completion of all check payment requests
  • To prepare check and check payments’ vouchers with necessary journal entry according to GIZ chart of account

Coordination of administrative and financial affairs with focus on sustainable delivery chains

  • To make sure, that field and HQ staff are always well acquainted with GIZ rules and regulations related to financial and administrative affairs
  • To assume at any time the financial affairs for the project
  • To coach technical staff in the field, having the overview on the financial flows

Support of the head of Finance

  • To oversee relations to the bank account operations
  • To support the head of administration and finance in preparing financial information status

 Other Duties/Additional Tasks

  • To report immediately all problems on integrity, involving finance to the management of the programme
  • To control the filing for the financial section and to keep information confidential
  • To make sure, that procurement and financial filing is related and connected at any time and for all operations
  • To assist in and/or carry out other tasks, as assigned
  • To undertake further job training related to his/her position and duties, if required

Job Requirements

Required Entry Qualifications and Competencies

  • Degree (Master is an asset) in financial affairs, accounting, commerce or similar;
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as cashier and accountant and is familiar with international standards in accountancy and cash flow
  • Thorough experience in working together with other administrative departments (administration, coordination, HR management, technical advisory services);
  • Thorough experience in getting rules and regulations communicated and implemented;
  • Good mastering of the English language
