GIZ-SURED NSA Project

As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development policy objectives. GIZ promotes reforms and change processes. In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 50 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.

The Sustainable Land Management Program (SLMP) is one of the Flagship programs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Ethiopian government. It has been designed under the long-term (2009-2023) Ethiopia Strategic Investment Framework for Sustainable Land Management (ESIF) and the Agricultural Sector Policy and Investment Framework (PIF). Both are designed to strengthen domestic and foreign support as well as planning of investments that contribute to Ethiopia’s agricultural growth and development agenda for addressing issues related to the existing challenges related to land and water resources.

GIZ has been supporting the implementation of SLMP since 2008 in different forms in Amhara, Oromia and Tigray regions. Starting from 2015, GIZ SLM has increased its geographical coverage and included three additional regions, Benishangul-Gumuz, Gambella and Southern Nations Nationalities Peoples’ Region.

GIZ-SURED (Sustainable Use of Resources for Economic Development 2018–2020) will be focusing on the economic development and sustainable utilization of rehabilitated areas.

GIZ’s global program “Food and Nutrition Security, Enhanced Resilience” in Ethiopia is a component project of GIZ-SURED. Since 2015 this component project has been working on improving the nutrition situation of food insecure people, focusing on women of reproductive age and young children in Amhara and Tigray Region.

The project’s approach is to combine different agricultural and cross-sectoral measures to:

-Increase the availability of diversified food in the targeted districts e.g. through the promotion of homestead gardening, crops containing vitamin A, iron, zinc and oilseed varieties;

-Improve the IYCF practices including WASH on community and households’ level;

-Work through collaboration with the government, NGO partners, the private sector and research.

GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit Administrative Assistant for GIZ-SURED/NSA as specified:

     Position:                            Administrative Assistant

     Application deadline:      January 25,2019

     Required Candidates:     One

     Place of Work:                  Addis Ababa

 

Responsibilities

Initiate, coordinate and follow up on administrative processes

Tasks

  • Provide administrative, logistics and secretarial services to the NSA project
  • Follow up on adequate and timely supply of material, equipment and supplies considering low costs, time of delivery and improvement of the service to different users, following GIZ rules and regulations
  • Keep filing system and NSAP store functional.
  • Ensure that offices and facilities are maintained well and liaises with support units
  • Support project procurement processes and other administrative issues
  • Organize workshops / meetings and arrange logistics for project events
  • Prepare Team meeting minutes and follow up on Team Calendar.
  • Support the project in organizing experience sharing visits among various stakeholders.
  • Arrange and organize all travel related issues

Competences:

  • Excellent communication skills to handle stakeholders with different interest
  • Strong result orientation
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Good English language skills, both written and oral;
  • Excellent computer skills esp. Microsoft Office;

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in social or natural science
  • Proven skills in GIZ project support and coordination
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience
  • Knowledge on nutrition related topics are an asset
