Title: Advocacy Assistant

Location: Accra, Ghana

Contract: 24 months Fixed Term Contract

The Advocacy Assistant will play a key role within Sightsavers work by providing support that enhances accessibility, establishing and maintaining systems to ensure effective functioning of the office and providing support to the work of the Global Advocacy Advisor (Social Inclusion), including her role on the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities where applicable.

You will assist with the effective implementation of initiatives, developing information briefings, organising information ready for presentation, reports and publications and analysing documents as well as engaging with identified partners and agencies.

Your experience or interest in working with marginalised groups such as persons with disabilities, and your knowledge of current issues and best practice in disability inclusive development and human rights, will be supported by an academic qualification in social science or similar. You will demonstrate strong research and writing skills and be familiar with policy development, and legislations.

By providing administrative support such as travel, scheduling, compiling reports and handling correspondence, as well as ensuring all documents are accessible and identifying information that is not accessible, the Advocacy Assistant will be a key contributor towards Social Inclusion and within the team.
