Amandla seeks to appoint an Advocacy Officer to be based in Phillipi (Cape Town)

Job Purpose
The Advocacy officer will be involved in arguing for the SRHR of AGYW/ABYM in Klipfontein District amongst the four Sub recipients of the Global fund project.The candidate should be passionate about the Amandla’s vision, cause and drive to ensure AGYW and youths have equal access to opportunities that enable them to navigate the cradle to career journey. He or she must have the necessary tools, skills and knowledge to realize Amandla’s shared vision. He or she will be directly involved in formulating and implementing the organizational policy and strategies towards its goals. As an advocacy officer the candidate should devise ways of reaching those who could use the organization’s assistance and offering the help needed by Adolescent Girls and Young Women and other youths.The job requires a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships both within and outside the Amandla and its associates. The Advocacy officer will represent Amandla to people and organizations in its network. Additionally, the officer will be required to coordinate access to safe spaces by AGYW in the district as well as facilitate dialogues for men. The advocacy officer is accountable to the Project Manager, and they work together to ensure that the initiatives they implement have positive and measurable outcome

  • A shared passion and vision is the fundamental requirement for this position to work with Amandla Development.
  • Knowledge, training and experience in advocating for the SRH Rights of AGYW.
  • Must possess personal attributes such as integrity, focus, diligence and ability to communicate effectively and persuade others towards their point of view.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A diploma in Community Development, Social science degree is an added advantage.
  • At least three years’ experience in community development or related role.
  • Proficiency in English and isiXhosa
