Chemonics International seeks an Agronomist and technical specialists for the anticipated Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Extension Services and Advisory Services Project activity funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The activity seeks to increase smallholder farmers’ productivity, incomes, and household nutrition status in Benue, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kebbi and Niger States of Nigeria, through strengthening sustainable agricultural extension and advisory services focusing on the following value chains: aquaculture, cowpea, maize, rice and soybean.

Agronomist: The agronomist will supervise extension agents for the monitoring of trainings, introduce new technologies, collaborate with local government partners to conduct surveys for M&E purposes, collect and aggregate data for reports, and facilitate group development and collaboration with partner institutions.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in agriculture, social sciences, or related discipline;
  • A minimum of ten years of professional experience in agricultural or related development programs;
  • Demonstrated professional experience and knowledge related to the aquaculture, cowpea, cocoa, maize, rice, and soybeans value chain(s);
  • Demonstrated experience with project coordination, report writing, and adult training;
  • Experience working in USAID or other donor-funded projects;
  • Experience working in Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger, Benue, Ebonyi, Cross River, and/or Delta State;
  • English fluency is required; Fluency in Pidgin English and/or other local languages is highly desirable

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in complex operating environments;
  • Experience working in USAID or other donor-funded projects;
  • Experience working in Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger, Benue, Ebonyi, Cross River, and/or Delta State English fluency is required; Fluency in Pidgin English and/or other local languages is highly desirable.
