Purpose of the position:

To provide technical support to ENRICH Project in working with small holder farmers in order to develop better farming conditions to improve productivity and household’s nutrition.

The holder of the position should communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate appropriation of locally identified bio-fortified crops and production scaling up
  • Provide technical support to farmers on production, harvesting, storage and marketing of bio-fortified dense crops, seed multiplication and support in animal husbandry
  • Facilitate the mobilization, training and monitoring of local institutions (Saving Groups, Commercial Producer Groups and Commercial Villages) for more impactful and sustainable transformational development.
  • Support community groups and HHs in the assessment and production of agro-ecologically appropriate micronutrient-dense fruits, vegetables and animal-source foods
  • Participate in designing, planning and implementing innovative approaches to agricultural and value chain activities
  • Organize, prepare and facilitate ToT and other trainings to selected community members on specific sustainable and environmentally appropriate agronomic techniques
  • Provide appropriate extension services in crop production and management amongst smallholder farmers focusing on diversification and intensification of agricultural production and promoting integration into value chain activities.
  • Develop and provide appropriate linkages with various like-minded partners i.e research institutions, NGOs, government authorities, government programs, etc
  • Facilitate appropriation of locally identified bio-fortified crops and production scaling up
  • Provide regular and timely reports on project trainings and other activities to supervisor and field colleagues on the progress of project implementation
  • Participate in project trainings, surveys, monitoring exercises, and donor, country and head office visits as required

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills

  • B.Sc. in Agronomy, Agriculture General, Horticulture, Agricultural Extension and Education or related field

Required work experience

  • Candidate must have at least 3 years of working experience in the agriculture sector with preferred knowledge in bio-fortification.
  • Experience in Project design and implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication skills
  • Good Computer skills in MS office i.e Excel, Word, Power Point, etc is essential
  • Significant experience of working with government officials, community groups and communities
  • Prior experience with donor-funded programs
  • Must be fluent in English and Swahili

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Willing to work in rural areas with frequent visits to the field
  • On call: During working hours unless there is an emergency
