Position: Alumni Bridging Manager
Based:Central Office – Illovo, Johannesburg
Reports to:Development Lead
Position Type:12-Months Fixed Term Contract
Responsible for:The Alumni Bridging Manager is responsible for bridging Columba Leadership’s Alumni into the world of work in the six (6) provinces in which the organisation operates
Qualification:
  • Social Studies Qualification such as Human Resources or Psychology or similar
  • Youth Development Qualification advantageous
  • Mentoring and/or Coaching Qualification advantageous
  • Project Management Qualification advantageous
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated operational experience in the development sector
  • Strong communication and people skills at various levels
  • Collaborative and developmental approach and ability to build and support strong teams
  • Evidence of good staff development and management experience
  • Good understanding of, and evidence of, financial management experience
  • Understanding of funder requirements and ability to achieve targets
  • Demonstrates values-based leadership
  • Key focus on partnership and stakeholder management
  • Employability sector exposure and understanding of the environment
  • Good writing and reporting skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in engaging youth
  • Strong administratively
Travel:
  • The successful candidate may be required to travel within Gauteng as well as to the other provinces in which the organisation operates which include Eastern Cape, Free State, KZN, North West and Western Cape.
Driver’s License
  • Candidates must be in possession of a valid Driver’s License
Key Performance AreasThe following KPI’s will be in place for the first twelve (12) months of employment after which they will be reviewed by the CEO, the Development Lead and the Alumni Bridging Manager:
1.     Partnerships:  Implement Job, Learnership, Mentorship Programmes and/or Bursary opportunities identified by the Development Lead.  Meet deliverables and identify opportunities to align, develop and improve partnerships.
2.     Learnerships/Mentorship Programmes: Translate Learnership and Mentorship Programmes into job opportunities.
3.     Job Opportunities: Support Development Lead in identifying partners and platforms aligned to strategy to identify job opportunities available to the youth.
4.     Career Day:  Manage Career Day implementation.
5.     Alumni Data Base: Together with the M&E Manager ensure that the Alumni Data Base is constantly kept updated.
6.     Funder Employers:  Obtain feedback from funder employers and share this with the Development Lead.
7.     Recruitment of suitable candidates:  In conjunction with the Human Resources Division and any other internal partners, screen and vet possible candidates in line with the criteria provided by funder employers for each position.
8.     Induction Programme:  Conduct internal Induction Programme to ensure Alumni have clear understanding of what is required for the position and they have clarity with regards to future prospects.
9.     Mentoring and Support:  Provide mentoring and support to Alumni once placed.
10.  Reporting and communications:  Reflect purpose and values and support partner engagement and development according to agreed targets and include reporting back to DBE District Offices.
11.  Case Studies: Write up case studies that can inform the organisation’s work in this area as well as marketing initiatives that can potentially open new opportunities.
12.  Placement Management: Example: Social & Emotional Learning Programme in schools ensuring buy-in and support of schools as well as District buy-in and support.
