Summary Job Description
We are looking for an experienced manager to join BV’s dynamic and innovative community aquaculture programme in southwest Madagascar. The successful applicant will be working with an amazing diversity of people and communities to deliver a real and tangible positive difference to the lives of chronically poor coastal coastal community by tackling local development needs through a rights-based approach, as well as directly contributing to the environmental sustainability of the Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Locally Marine Managed Areas (LMMA’s) in which we work.
The Aquaculture Coordinator– Southwest (ACSW) is a crucial role within BV Aquaculture Team with the responsibility of overseeing the ongoing development of two main aquaculture export products, the seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii and the sea cucumber Holothuria scabra during a phase of rapid expansion of BV’s aquaculture programme in the regions of Atsimo Andrefana and Menabe.
The ACSW will oversee operations, and maintain effective communications with project partners and the wider BV team, ensuring our aquaculture projects in the southwest region, the heart of BV operations in Madagascar, are delivered to a high standard. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a diverse multi-disciplinary team in a challenging operational environment and will thrive in a dynamic, collegial atmosphere.
