Reporting to the Mozambique Country Program Manager, the Area Manager will provide leadership management and field coordination for Build Change project teams in Nampula Province.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As Area Manager – Nampula Province, you will lead the successful delivery of Build Change’s housing resilience and climate adaptation programs in the region. Based in Nampula, you’ll play a hands-on role in managing operations, guiding field teams, and ensuring program excellence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations of Build Change’s offices in Nampula Province, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
  • Program Implementation: Lead the rollout of projects across Nampula and Nacala, ensuring activities meet targets, milestones, and timelines agreed with donors.
  • Team Management: Supervise and support field teams in Nampula Province, working closely with HR and admin teams to ensure the right staffing is in place to meet project goals.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with local government, partner organizations, and donor representatives to maintain alignment and strong working relationships.
  • Safety & Security: Enforce Build Change’s safety protocols and emergency plans to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Ethical Leadership: Ensure that all activities reflect Build Change’s mission, values, and high ethical standards.
  • Other Duties: Support additional tasks as needed, reporting directly to the Mozambique Country Program Manager.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Five years of field experience in construction of houses and/or small community infrastructure.
  • Experience managing a technical team.
  • Experience working in Africa is a plus.
  • Experience in homeowner-driven implementation is a plus.
  • Experience in post-disaster reconstruction is a plus.
  • Experience in DRR and Climate Adaptation is a plus.
  • Willingness to be based full-time in Nacala.
  • This position requires fluency in English and Portuguese.
