The Bar ama Baro (“Teach or Learn”) program is seeking applications from eligible applicants to fund a program whose goal is to increase access to quality education for a targeted number of out of school children and youth(Approximately ages 8-15).

Objectives:

In close consultation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education (MoECHE) authorities and other partners to implement activities. The following objectives could be addressed by applicants under this Request for Applications (RFA).

  • To mobilize parents, youth, religious leaders and other influencers to strengthens community support of accelerated education.
  • To improve accelerated teaching knowledge and practices through teacher training, classroom observation, and support.
  • To execute strategies to recruit and retain female teachers from the community.
  • To provide empirical data on improved learning outcomes through the collection of pre-and posttest data using the Early Grade Reading Assessment and Early Grade Mathematics Assessment.
  • To leverage partnerships with other organizations to enhance the resilience of individuals and communities.

A. AWARD INFORMATION:

  1. Estimate of Funds Available and Number of Awards Contemplated

Subject to the availability of funds, Bar ama Baro (“Teach or Learn”) plans to issue multiple awards under this RFA. The total estimated amount of funding available is $700,000 USD. The total value of each award is estimated to range from $50,000 USD to $100,000 USD. As the amount of an award is subject to negotiation, a negotiated award amount may or may not fall within this range. Furthermore, Bar ama Baro (“Teach or Learn”) is not obligated to issue awards/an award up to the amount of funds available.

B. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

  1. Eligible Applicants To be eligible for award under this opportunity, an applicant must demonstrate that it falls into one of the grantee categories below:

Non-U.S. NGOs

Civil Society Organizations

Community Based Organizations Associations (Umbrella Organizations)

Private/For-Profit Organizations working in Education sector.

Additionally, an applicant must be officially registered and working in compliance with all applicable civil and fiscal regulations, including but not limited to pertinent local laws and status. In lieu of official registration, an applicant may still be eligible for award if it shows proof of effort to secure registration, exemption from registration, or cause for why registration is not optional or practicable.
