The Carel du Toit Trust (Tygerberg) is the fundraising arm of the Carel du Toit Centre, where children who have a hearing impairment learn to speak.  The Trust was established in 1988 and our vision is a “world where children who are deaf have universal access to hearing technology and spoken language through ensuring the financial sustainability of all Carel du Toit Centres and preserving the Carel du Toit methodology of natural spoken language with audiological support”.

The Carel du Toit Trust seeks to appoint a Admin Assistant / Bookkeeper, to be based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Salary: R 8 000 to R 10 000

Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping:

  • Process bank, debtors and creditors on Pastel Accounting
  • Prepare creditors for payment and following up any discrepancies
  • Following up debtors’ payments and dealing with queries
  • Update donor management system with donations received
  • Update team with weekly fundraising figures
  • Issue and receive petty cash
  • Issue tax certificates to donors and capture on the donor management system
  • Update section 18A register
  • Send out monthly staff accounts

General and Administrative Duties

  • Manage switchboard
  • Type as needed
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail
  • Order weekly groceries
  • Copier/Printer maintenance management
  • Stationery control
  • Minutes of meetings
  • File system management
  • Vehicle administration

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of bookkeeping experience
