SNV is an open and learning organization that focuses on improving the lives of Ethiopian through a market based approach inclusive of women and youth. In its new Strategic Plan period (2019 – 2022), SNV will more explicitly aim for systems change including strengthening institutions and kick-starting markets that help many more to escape poverty beyond our projects. National Biogas Programme of Ethiopia (NBPE), hosted by the Ministry of Water, Irrigation & Energy (MoWIE) has been implemented since 2009 as part of the Africa Biogas Partnership Programme (ABPP). Its phase II funding for Ethiopia came to an end as of March 31, 2019. NBPE Phase I and II worked in four larger programme regions; namely Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR and Tigray.

Consultancy Objective

The cost analysis presents the cost per size for a design of household bio-digester, at a given time. This detailed cost analysis includes the cost of labour (skilled and unskilled) as well as cost of materials (both imported and procured locally). The analysis will start with separate sheets for 5 different sizes (2.5 M3, 4 M3, 6 M3, 8 M3 and 10 M3) and for 9 different programme regions (Amhara, Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz, Oromia, Gambella, Sidama, SNNPR, Somali and Tigray). The design for 4 to 10 M3 is SINIDU 2010 while for 2.5 M3 the design is different.

Job Requirements

Applicants must fulfil the following:

1)   the applicant must be a legally registered national consulting firm;

2)   the applicant must have min. 3 years of operation completed;

3)   The bid must be submitted in 2 separate envelopes for technical and financial proposals, and

4)   The following documents must be submitted:

  • Organisational profile;
  • Team composition and the roles and responsibilities;
  • Updated CVs highlighting the qualifications and experiences; and
  • Proposed detailed work activities and work schedule.

2% withholding tax will be deducted from the consultant fees at the source and will be paid by SNV – Ethiopia, assuming a TIN number and license can be provided.
