Background.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an international, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organization which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. NRC is working in Ethiopia in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and The Administration for Refugees and Returnee Affairs ARRA) to implement provision of access to Shelter, food security, WASH and quality education in Ethiopia for Somali, Eritrean, and Sudanese refugees as well as host communities around the refugee camps in Dolo Ado, Shire, Gambella and Asosa districts.

NRC in collaboration with; Dollo Ado and Boklomayo woreda government  offices, ARRA and UNHCR has established multi sectoral coordination platform in which humanitarian, development, government and other actors come together to do joint planning to support integrated and sustainable service provision to refugees and host communities. To strengthen the coordination platform, the NRC has developed a web based knowledge management system – DollolX- to tackle organizations difficulties of accessing most up-to-date data on needs, assessments and other key information between refugee and host areas.

Purpose of the work

  • Conduct a rapid assessment on organizations and government office data management system and practice in terms of; personnel skill, organizational process/ protocols and infrastructure in accordance
  • with existing policies and best practices and implementation of the Dollo web based system developed by NRC
  • Assist partners to build a sustainable, locally-owned knowledge Management (KM) system that will enable local solutions to the specific problems, circumstances and opportunities that exist in the area

Provide training on knowledge management, information management, data collection and analysis to NRC, Government, I/NGO and UN agency staff to enhance their capacity on KM so that all stakeholders have access to up-to-date information
