About the Africa Platform for Social protection
The Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP) is a pan African network of organizations operating at grassroots, national and regional levels, with a commitment to promoting and strengthening the social contract between states and citizens. To achieve this, the APSP promotes active engagement of National Platforms in the shaping of Social Protection policies, programmes and practices in Africa. National Platforms are groups of CSOS working to support the development and implementation of policies and programmes on Social Protection at the national level. National Platforms are composed of organizations working on a variety of issues including; children, older persons, people with disability, minority groups and trade unions. The APSP exists to create partnerships with Civil Society and other organizations to engage with Governments, Regional and Continental Bodies and International Development Agencies (IDAs) to develop and implement innovative Social Protection Policies, Strategies and Programmes in order to make a difference in people’s lives in Africa.
1.0 Objective of Consultancy
The objective of this consultancy is to conduct an Organisational Capacity Development (OCD) and specifically improve on the existing systems using the previous organisational assessment report and systems in place.
The assessment will focus attention on the following areas: -**
a) Fundraising and sustainability strategies
b) Procurement procedures,
c) Administration and human resource guidelines, including a robust performance management system
d) Safeguarding guidelines, policy and child participation framework
e) Current projects and programme design, development, management ,future fit and value addition
f) Communication and advocacy strategies
g) Internal financial processes.
h) Governance structure, internal management and reporting processes and areas of improvement
i) Monitoring, evaluation, learning process and documentation of results
j) Human resources management and synergies across the secretariat, the board and network members.
k) Develop a strategic plan for the period 2021- 2025
2.0 Key products
- Report on revised OCD systems, re-aligned to the developed Organizational Development strategy for 2021-2025.
- Safeguarding and Child Participation framework
- Resource mobilization strategy
3.0 Requirements
- An advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Very good Knowledge and experience in organisational development including strategic plans
- Evidence of similar assignments undertaken with institutions similar to the one under this assignment (create a link of your recent similar work with referees)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including good editing skills and strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of social protection sector and child safeguarding
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
4.0 Timelines
All aspects of this work should be completed by August 28th 2020
