Caritas Switzerland (CACH) is an international humanitarian organization which has been supporting various projects/programs in Ethiopia since 1974. CACH is registered by Charities and Societies Agency (License # 3676) according to the proclamation of the country with major focus in Environment, WASH, Livelihood, and humanitarian Aid.
Caritas Switzerland (CACH) is desirous to hire qualified consultancy firm on competitive basis in accordance with the terms and conditions illustrated in the Terms of Reference (ToR) prepared for this consultancy service.
The objective of the consultancy contains the implementation of a GIS assessment and data analysis to be carried out in the framework of the Project “Sustainable forest management and traceability for Ethiopian Forest Coffee” in Kafa, Sheka, Bench Maji, zones in SNNP Region and Illubabor and Bale zones in Oromia Region. The GIS consultancy deliverables intend to strengthen the forest coffee value chain and to improve forest cover change monitoring mechanisms and to introduce an innovative traceability model for wild forest coffee.
Job Requirements
The successful national bidder for this GIS assessment and analysis contract will have extensive experience in designing and implementing a GIS analysis and assessment activities, in the application of all modern analytical systems and in setting-up user-friendly monitoring systems. The bidder will take the lead in the design, execution and quality control of the assessment, but will have CACH as partner who will be involved in all aspects of the activities. For the implementation and control of the assessment work, the bidder will engage the necessary national personnel that meets or exceeds the following requirements:
- Proven capacity experience to handle GIS assessments in the field of forestry/coffee and Land use management issues;
- At least 3 times track record of land cover assessments carried out in the 2 regions of Oromia or/and SNNPR;
- A higher degree in land use management – forestry science or related degree of study (minimum master’s degree in forestry/forest sciences or rated field);
- Minimum of 10 years of working experience including field work related on GIS assessments on land cover assessments with special emphasis on forestry – of this at least 2 years related to forest cover assessments;
- Field experience of 3 years with PFM area assessments and coffee production systems
