Open Streets Cape Town is both an organisation and a philosophy which seeks to change how streets are used, perceived and experienced. The organisation builds on decades of international and local experience in re-designing and re-working streets and seeks to influence public life and policy related to streets in Cape Town and South Africa more broadly.

Open Streets seeks to appoint a Campaigns Organiser to be based in Cape Town.

The Campaigns Organiser will be responsible for logistical and administrative support for the roll out of a series of campaigns and will work in close coordination with the Operations Manager.

The campaigns organiser will report to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, mapping and liaising with stakeholders
  • Draft a work plan for the roll out of existing campaigns
  • Develop concepts for new campaigns
  • Liaise with existing and new partners
  • Document meetings, plans and agreements
  • Draft reports and other written pieces
  • Provide support with external communications
  • Manage relationships with service providers

  Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the Open Streets concept
  • A basic degree (Social science / Urban studies / Logistics / Events / Project management / Business Administration) or compensating relevant work experience
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong people skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to work in a changing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Organising / event management experience
  • Social media knowledge a plus
