CANADEM is seeking seasoned professionals with previous relevant experience for its Petroleum Policy and Technical Specialist roster. CANADEM is a Canadian based NGO that works with various UN agencies through the standby partnership programme. We regularly deploy candidates in various areas of expertise all around the globe. Registration with CANADEM is always free. We are looking to expand our pool of experts for potential/upcoming opportunities with different agencies and field offices. Most positions are for 3 to 6 month deployments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident;
  • English fluency is required
  • Willing and able to travel to South Sudan on short notice;
  • Consent to photographs and videos being taken and shared publicly;
  • Canadian public servants (federal, provincial or municipal) will not be considered

Education:

  • Post-graduate university degree in a relevant field (Petroleum, Oil, International Development, Economics etc.)

Experience:

  • Professional experience and expertise, especially in regards to legislation related to the petroleum sector;
    • professional experience and expertise in environmental and human rights risks associated with the petroleum sector, and/or petroleum environmental regulations, labour regulations, gender-based analyses and/or business and human rights best practices;
    • professional experience and expertise in providing technical advice on responsible and transparent public revenue management in the petroleum sector

The following are considered assets:

  • Experience working in or on issues related to sub-Saharan Africa, in particular Sudan or South Sudan, or on Fragile and Conflict-Affected States; and,
  • Experience and/or expertise related to constitutional amendment processes / legal reform.
