The Centre for Human Settlement, Shelter and Environment Africa (CHELSEA) is a non-profit organization with a vision of building harmony between man and nature.

CHELSEA is at the verge of implementing the Inclusive WASH award (December 2020   November 2023) from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Nigeria mission. The goal of the activity is to build the capacity of key watershed stakeholders in the Anambra Imo River basin area of Nigeria, especially farmers, sand miners, households and water institutions, to sustainably manage water pollution risks to improve water quality and enhance supplies. The location of the activity is Imo and Abia states, Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chief of Party (COP) – Inclusive WASH

Location: Owerri, Imo
Job Type: Full Time

Chief of Party (COP)

  • The COP will be the direct link with the USAID AOR and other relevant stakeholders such as government partners and accountable for achieving Inclusive WASH results. Given the complexity and scope of this project,  it is critical that the COP exhibit effective personnel management, coordination, and decision-making skills along with an ability to troubleshoot.
  • The COP is expected to have the strategic vision, leadership qualities, depth and breadth of technical expertise and experience, a solid professional reputation,  management experience, interpersonal skills and written and oral presentation skills to fulfil the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the program description.

Requirements

  • The COP must have at least (7) years of demonstrated experience on similar donor-funded projects. S/he will have a  minimum of seven (5) years of experience with successful water and sanitation projects.
  • S/he will have exceptional communication and collaboration skills and a  proven track record of interacting with other projects, high-level host country governments, and international agencies. The candidate must have a proven track record of working effectively with diverse groups of civil society organizations, media, and government counterparts.
  • S/he will have an advanced degree or post-graduate degrees in water resource management or engineering, public administration/management or other relevant fields.
  • S/he will have demonstrated experience in institutional strengthening, capacity building, and market-based approaches to service delivery.
  • S/he must be fluent in English.
