Here’s where you come in:

World Vision seeks a Chief of Party (CoP) for the proposed USAID-funded Somalia Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA). The goal of the Activity is to improve and sustain the food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations through multi-year resilience food and nutrition security activities. This activity is a 5-year program worth approximately $100 million.

As the CoP, you will be responsible for providing strategic vision, technical leadership and administrative oversight of the program ensuring compliance and project quality and will serve as the principal institutional liaison to the donor and local government entities. You will have proven leadership skills managing projects of a similar size and scope with prior experience effectively managing USAID development activities. You will have experience working in Somalia or in a similar context, familiarity with the country’s social landscape, and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, other donor-funded projects and stakeholders, local organizations, and partners. You must have demonstrated experience recruiting, developing, and managing staff, as well as experience managing programmatic and financial reporting. You must understand and demonstrate commitment to the importance of adaptive management, gender, and youth issues in development programming and within staff and management of the activity.

*This position is contingent on grant award and donor approval.

Requirements include:

  • A master’s degree in international development, non-profit management or related a concentration from an accredited U.S. college or university, or international equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible senior experience in international development as Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, or senior management experience on large ($30M+) food security, development, or humanitarian relief projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing development activities for USAID or similar donors, of which at least 3 years of experience working in/on fragile or post-conflict states, Somalia experience strongly preferred.
  • Experienced in managing a large grant involving Title II commodities and/or cash transfer mechanisms.
  • Experience managing sub-grants and contracts under grants for complex projects.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Mandatory travels to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required.
  • Travel to the United States WVUS Washington, DC Office to meet with donors and other stakeholders.
