Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID Ghana Energy Development Program. The project will work with USAID to provide capacity building support and technical assistance for energy sector stakeholders in Ghana. The chief of party will serve as the main contact between USAID and Chemonics, ensuring effective and efficient performance for the project, overseeing all quality control and reporting, and interfacing with senior mission, embassy and government officials, other donors, and regional organizations. Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise the effective, efficient, and timely implementation of all activities, including management of staff and consultants and the oversight of work plans and project financial management
- Serve as the main representative to USAID and implementing partners, ensuring ongoing coordination
- Ensure the project achieves expected results and that administrative, financial, and contracting systems function to support the project’s success
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business, management, economics, law, engineering, policy, or other areas relevant to the energy sector or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the energy sector with knowledge of transaction advisory support, competitive procurement of power support, renewable energy development, and gas and fuel supply issues; experience in the gas-to-power market is valuable but not required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing complex and diverse energy policy reform programs in similar development environments as a chief of party, project director, regional director, country director, or other senior field management role
- Successful experience in managing or developing public-private partnerships
- Demonstrated understanding of energy regulations in sub-Saharan Africa preferred
- Significant experience leading development projects in sub-Saharan Africa preferred
- Demonstrated capacity to build and supervise a diverse team
- Effective organizational skills, strategy development and implementation skills, interpersonal and creative problem‐solving skills
- Demonstrated capacity to establish productive relationships with high‐level host-country officials and stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in spoken and written English with strong oral and written presentation skills
