Save the Children International is currently recruiting for the position of Chief of Party for a USAID Civil Society support NOFO Award at our Country Office in Kampala. The Chief of Party is responsible for the overall management and representation of the program, and is ultimately accountable for the delivery of desired program results, an effective adaptive management approach, relationships with a range of stakeholders, and management of the program team and consortium.

To be successful for this role, you will have/bring the following:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience managing development partner-funded and/or other development programs related to civil society with demonstrated experience leading teams to achieve development results.
  • A Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Organizational Development, or in a relevant field, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field combined with seven (7) years of experience in addition to the 10 years specified above.
  • Experience in East Africa or regions at similar stages of economic development.
  •    Substantial knowledge of civil society organizational development strategies, including strong successful experience in successful organizational development approaches.
  • Substantial experience advancing civil society development in politically sensitive environments in which political space is closing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills related to activity management, including activity planning and performance management, motivating and supervising team efforts, and financial and personnel management.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and maintaining professional relationships with host country counterparts in government, civil society and the private sector.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills in English.

We employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and protection.  We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realize children’s rights and ensure their voices are heard.  We are working towards 3 breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

  • No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
  • All children learn from a quality basic education and that,
  • Violence against children is no longer tolerated
