Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year, $22- to $24-million USAID Integrated Community Agriculture and Nutrition activity in Uganda. The project aims to sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households and communities by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. The chief of party will provide overall leadership to ensure achievement of programmatic results and timely completion of deliverables. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide overall technical and managerial leadership of the project
- Serve as the project’s primary liaison with USAID
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with Ugandan government officials at the national and county levels
- Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
- Lead coordination with USAID, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in international development, livestock, agriculture, economics, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible international work experience implementing multisector development programs
- Minimum five years of management experience preferred, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multifaceted international development programs
- Chief of party experience on a USAID project preferred
- Experience in Uganda or a similar context preferred
- Strong familiarity with resilience programming preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in writing and speaking English required
