How can you make a difference?

In the current context of programming, which involves a high level of reporting, the present consultancy will respond to specific documentation and key reporting requirements, while supporting programmatic interventions and fundraising efforts.

Under the supervision of the Chief Child Protection, the Child Protection Consultant key accountabilities, duties and task are as follows: Activities and Tasks:

  • Prepare technical documents for negotiations with potential donors to the child protection program, including on accelerating birth registration rate in the country;
  • Proposal drafting in the field of GBVie and GBV Risk Mitigation Programming in the context of COVID-19
  • Proposal drafting in the field of Disability inclusion as part of the UN Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD)
  • Provide technical support to programmatic interventions and capacity building on prevention of family separation and response measures for unaccompanied and separated children, including in relation to COVID-19 and public health containment measures.
  • Provide technical support for the establishment of risk mitigating measures/mechanisms to prevent, as well as safe and accessible channel to report, cases of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA)
  • Draft reports to current donors to the child protection programme;
  • Ensure regular reporting on current emergency response (COVID-19 and non-COVID19 related); Develop input to annual review and other related reporting requirements.

Deliverables:

Monthly report with up-dates on fundraising and CP indicator monitoring (The report shall inform the Chief of Section on progress made by the individual consultant regarding implementation of activities/tasks. The report will be also used to assess the consultant’s monthly performance)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Qualifications:

  • Advanced University degree in Law, Social Sciences, International Relations, International Development or related.

Experience:

  • 5 years progressively responsible professional work experience in child protection or related field;
  • Experience from working with international organizations, UN Agencies or NGOs;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Previous experience in project proposal drafting
  • Demonstrated experience with implementation of trainings, workshops and similar
  • Strong knowledge and experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other software.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF an asset.

Language skills:

Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
