ROLE PURPOSE
The Child Project Coordinator is in charge of all child protection activities in the camp and will directly report to the ERM. S/he acts as Team Leader and works closely and in collaboration with the Child Protection Officer(s) and other casual workers and consultants as necessary. The Child Projection Coordinator will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all child protection activities in refugee camp in Rwanda. In that line, he/she will provide strategic guidance for the child protection interventions and play a coordination role with other camp level actors and work in close collaboration with other Child Protection Coordinators in other camps.
Dimensions of the Role
The Child Project Coordinator reports directly to the emergency Response Manager with a dotted line to the Project Coordinator based in Kigali. She/he is a case manager together with the Child Protection Officer and s/he acts as Team Leader of all staff, casual workers and consultants based in the camp level and working on Child Protection Project. She/he is responsible for camp budget management and spending in line with Child Protection.
Accountabilities
- Ensure project implementation in the camp is in conformity with UNHCR and Plan International’s standards and policies.
- Oversee the overall financial management of the project in the camp in collaboration with the grant accountant and Project Coordinator.
- Coordinate implementation of activities to ensure there is adequate sharing of information between different actors of the project.
- Develop narrative and financial project reports to make sure they are in accordance with the required reporting.
- Maintain relationships with local government, partner NGOs as well targeted schools/institutions to promote the efficiency in project implementation.
- Participate in the preparation of the project annual budget for efficiency purpose.
- Ensure that fixed assets are adequately maintained, inventoried and are only for the project official business to avoid mismanagement.
- Facilitate the capacity building of partners and youth to increase best practices in child protection and strengthen community based child protection structures.
- Compile information and relevant data to share them within and outside the country.
- Collect evidences and stories to make the project visible.
- Manage Child protection cases together with the Child Protection Officer(s).
- Manager Child protection referral pathways to other partners.
- Manage sensitization activities, campaigns and community mobilization initiatives.
- Monitor all activities in line with child protection; provide regular reports and updates to Emergency Response Manager and Project Coordinator and other actors/stakeholders.
- Coordinate effectively with field level UNHCR, stakeholders, MINEMA, district officials and other partners.
- Play a leadership role in camp level coordination processes.
- Manage Best Interest Assessment (BIA) processes and works closely with UNHCR for the Best Interest Determination (BID).
