Location (Districts): Mpumalanga: Ehlanzeni District

To support implementation of quality VMMC service delivery in the district, through innovative approaches with the aim of building capacity at district level to the partners and DoH staff providing VMMC services in the districts through the provision of technical support services, coaching, mentoring and facilitation as stipulated by donor requirements and deliverables indicated in the project workplan.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing FHI360 VMMC QA/QI activities in the district.
  • Provide QA/QI support, training and mentorship to designated VMMC partners and DoH staff working in project facilities.
  • Responsible for detection and ensuring appropriate follow-up and reporting of adverse events in the district.
  • Responsible for the compilation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports or as required by FHI360, DoH and USAID.
  • Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of all FHI360 QA/QI activities across the district.
  • Work with the M&E team to conduct field-based research including program evaluation and baseline assessments.
  • Participate in and make presentations at relevant District DoH, FHI360 and other stakeholders’ meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Essential Skills and Knowledge (Generic & Technical):

Competency in Clinical, Quality Assurance/Quality Control /Continuous Quality Improvement processes and procedures such as SIMS tools, WHO EQA tool and VMMC Dorsal Slit etc.

  • Knowledge of quality standards, policies and guidelines, including prescribed QI tools and indicators
  • Competent to execute and mentor VMMC prescribed surgical procedures, personnel training and site personnel certification, safety, infection control, records and documentation management
  • Ability to plan operations by creating quality management frameworks, work-plans or activity schedules aligned with programmatic targets:
  • Excellent clinical and mentoring and coaching skills
  • Good business sense and strong organizational skills
  • Good leadership and management skills
  • Initiative & resourceful
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
  • Pay attention to detail & ability execute accurately
  • Ability to manage time, work under pressure, strike balance and cope with competing priorities
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and manage teams
  • Deadline and results driven
  • Problem-solving ability

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP)
  • Registration with HPCSA
  • Own reliable transport with at least code 8 drivers’ licence
  • Completed the theory part of the Online Training Hub not more than 2 years ago
  • Minimum three years working experience in donor-funded HIV prevention programs
  • Minimum three years working experience in VMMC service provision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management systems of VMMC services will be an advantage.
  • Experience in VMMC training will be ab added advantage.
  • Potential candidates will undergo formal training and assessment as trainers. Only candidates who satisfactorily complete this exercise will be offered the position.
