Job Summary:

S/he will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive prevention, care and treatment services for key populations including female sex workers, men who have sex with men and transgender individuals through community outreach, and additional service deliver points (SDPs) as required.

Accountabilities:

  • Provides technical support for comprehensive HIV Prevention, SRH and HTC outreach services at the mobile centre and other SDPs as per national guidelines and quality assurance using national reporting tools.
  • Assess patients and clients and establish health care needs, diagnose simple common health conditions, prescribe, and administer treatment as necessary.
  • Diagnose, counsel and treat clients, including all integrated SRH services
  • Be able to prescribe and dispense ARVs
  • Provide information, educational and counseling services to clients in a timely, professional and client-focused manner
  • Ensure clinical equipment is functional
  • Ensure appropriate infection control protocols are available and adhered to.
  • Report clinical data daily
  • Make appropriate referrals for ongoing support and support actively tracking referrals for HIV care, treatment and support services.
  • Support the maintenance of quality clinic data and adequate commodities consumption records, calculate consumption and make requisitions on time to avoid stock outs.
  • Support maintenance of adequate stocks of drugs and medical commodities
  • Collect client data and store appropriately to ensure confidentiality is maintained and be directly responsible for ensuring that all the required national reporting tools are correctly filled and submitted on time.
  • Works closely with assigned team to ensure activities are implemented according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Conducts analysis of program implementation to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines.
  • Prepares reports and papers summarizing project results.
  • Delivers presentations at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Ensures project implementation adheres to company strategy and remains technically sound.
  • Provides leadership and team building at the task level.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.
  • Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.

Problem Solving & Impact:

  • Works on problems of diverse scope that require analysis or interpretation of various factors.
  • Builds productive working relationships with internal and external staff.
  • Decision may affect a work unit or area within a department.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Has no supervisory responsibility.
  • May provide guidance to other lower level personnel.

Education:

  • BSc Nursing or equivalent nursing qualification an added advantage
  • NARTIS trained required
  • Professional Registration with Swaziland Nursing Council

Experience:

  • Typically requires 5-8 years of managing data collection and technical assistance experience.
  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Understands the HIV-related needs of key population groups in Swaziland, including female sex workers, and/or men who have sex with men and/or transgender individuals and have worked to support and implement activities to reduce stigma and discrimination.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in SRH service provision
  • Experience/training in counselling an advantage
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of national and international staff

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.

Travel Requirements:
