Clinical Outreach Assistant

Locations: Ngala, Borno State

Position Type: Regular/Full term

Position Reports to:  Project Officer

Indirect/Technical Reporting: M&E Officer

Position directly Supervises: community volunteers

Job Summary

The clinical outreach assistant staff is responsible for supporting the clinical management officer /GBV officer to overseeing the implementation of all RH /GBV related issues in Borno State. She will provide technical support to clinical management Officer /GBV officer in providing essential RH services in the mobile outreach clinics where they will be working in Ngala, Borno state while ensuring all activities are of high quality and appropriately address the identified RH/GBV needs.

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Assist clinical officer /GBV officer in direct reproductive health/ gender base violence service provisions, EMOC, CMR, FP/STI and HTS.
  • Organize and conduct community engagements including sensitization and awareness on RH issues to create demand for RH /GBV services using local health volunteers.
  • Organize and conduct program quality quarterly meetings with project participants, local traditional and religious leaders and other implementing partners
  • Conduct initial consultations for patients attending the mobile outreach clinic according to national /state RH/GBV guideline
  • Assess signs and symptoms of illness, take vital signs and enter them in medical charts, develop a nursing diagnosis and triage patient to the appropriate provider
  • Support case management of GBV survivors.
  • Provide technical nursing support for RH services
  • Ensure referral for all transfer patients and survivors are coordinated with necessary health care intervention and diagnoses and linkages with other sector or units
  • Ensure all necessary information concerning the patients or activities in the clinic are reported to the supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain the register for medical consultation, of all the present RH services
  • Provide weekly, monthly report to project officer.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all patient registers are properly filled on daily bases
  • Ensure data tracking sheets a properly filled and reported to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • To perform any other responsibility as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Education:

Qualified CHEW or Nurse or midwifes with Nurse or midwifery diploma/certificate.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of working experience in any RH field nursing care
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build partnerships with governments, NGOs, CSOs and women’s groups.
  • NGO experience preferred
  • Experience in RH, BEmONC (EmONC), CMR /STI /FP/HIV and working at community level

Job Knowledge:

  • Proven technical knowledge and experience in implementing RH/GBV prevention and response program.
  • Current knowledge of development and human rights dimension of RH/gender and GBV, including relevant international human rights standards.
  • Strong inter-personal, communication, and networking skills.
  • Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.

Work Conditions:

The position is based in Ngala and will operate from CARE Maiduguri Sub office. A significant amount of time (at least 90%) is expected to be spent in the project locations and liaising with partners, local government and other stakeholders within the area of operations

It is essential that the Clinical Outreach Assistant maintain a close effective presence in the field to ensure proper management supervision guidance and leadership on field activities

However, s/he will be required to travel to Maiduguri and elsewhere, from time to time for meetings, training events, etc
