Centre for Development and Capacity Building (CDCB) is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization established by a group of practitioners, civic organization leaders and academia. CDCB’s key goal is empowering the people through strengthening institutions and leadership via independent research, tailor-made capacity building trainings, organizing high level forums and implementing innovative projects to be scaled up by government and development partners. CDCB is a proactive and growing organization whose scopes are promoting democratic values, human right, justice, peaceful and happy life for citizens and whose strategies are networking volunteerism, partnership for effective and efficient delivery. We are currently seeking an experienced, dedicated and competent Community Peace Advocate Volunteer qualified as per the following qualification.
Role overview
The purpose of this role is to Advocate peace building activities with local partner organizations and key stakeholders, including community members and leaders, government and non-governmental officials.
Job Description
Under general supervision of the project coordinator the Community peace advocate volunteer will advocate for peace in their respective communities as well work in the domain of information technology, website and media.
DUTIES/TASKS
- Engage on community mobilization for peace activism and peace building
- Create social media contents daily and give response to interactions on social media
- Collaborate cross-functionally and consistently contribute to strategic design developed for peace advocacy
- Creation and execution of all visual content ranging from social media content as well as other support functions as needed
- work towards agreed program objectives
- Prepare periodic performance reports as required while on the volunteer placement
- Participate fully in all aspects of the programme, including group orientations and evaluations
- Comply with relevant policies including CDCB’s safeguarding policy and refrain from taking part in situations and activities that contravene or deemed incompatible with the objectives of the programme
- Treat everyone equally and with respect, regardless of any difference
- Abide by and respect laws, rules and regulations and cultural norms of the community
- participate in supervision sessions and support offered by programme supervisors
- Be responsible for self-own day-to-day well-being and security and act in compliance with the decisions of programme supervisors with regard to issues of safety and security

Type of Assignment: – Regional Volunteer
Duration: Six months initially, with possibility of extension based on performance
Number of Position: (12 Individual peace advocate Volunteer)
Remuneration: As CDCB volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full-time basis. CDCB will cover your transportation and basic cost that are directly related to your engagement.
Job Requirements
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree (2020/2021 graduating class) in any field of studies
- Strong background and interest in transferring skills in the area of peace building, social cohesion building, community service, volunteerism, public speaking
- Excellent communication and writing skills English, Oromifa And Amharic
- Well versed background in social media and knowledge of all social media platforms and specification
- Previous experience in social media marketing or other related fields.
- A self-starter who learns quickly and works well in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Patience and a good understanding of team dynamics
- Ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a challenging, cross-cultural setting.
- Strong understanding of the role of civil society in a developing country context, (knowledge of Ethiopia country context is a plus)
