This takes a value chain development approach, with special focus on improving access to sustainable markets for smallholder farmers and by developing business-to-business relations and improving business development services.

Project

SNV is leading the implementation of the DFID-funded Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) Results Program implemented in nine sub-Saharan African countries including Ethiopia. The SSH4A approach in Ethiopia has been implemented by SNV Ethiopia in 6 rural woredas of Waghimra zone since April 2014 to March 2018 and is also being implemented in Estie Woreda of South Gondar Zone in Amhara Region from January 2017 to March 2020 as an extension of the existing project.

The program is implemented using the SNV Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) approach which combines work on demand creation, mostly through Community Led Total Sanitation and Hygiene (CLTSH, sanitation supply chains, hygiene behavioral change communication (BCC) and WASH governance.

The project being implemented in South Gondar zone, Este Woreda has demonstrated successful achievements in accessing new sanitation facilities from 23.3% to 98.7% reaching 197,943 people in the past two and half years.

Based on the above results, SNV Ethiopia would like to develop country specific innovative case studies and case stories which will be useful to scale the achievement in the country. A competent professional/firm will be recruited to carry out this assignment. The case studies and case stories will be critically reviewed, edited and published for wider use.

Objective of the assignment

The overall purpose of the assignment is to develop three case studies and at least fifteen case stories on SSH4A project intervention. The case studies and case stories captures innovative breakthrough to achieve project key results, successes and challenges, best practices, and lessons learnt helpful to scale in the country.

Job Requirements

Technical/Education

  • Master’s degree in literature with background of environmental health, social sciences, public health or any other related field of study;
  • Experience
  • The firm should have at least total of 8 years of related work experiences are required on the following areas:
  • Extensive experience in producing case studies and case stories for national or international organizations. Track record of successful in the development of case studies and case stories in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH) interventions would be an asset;
  • Minimum of four years documented work experience in the area of film/reportage/documentary writing, producing, directing and editing.
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge to produce high quality cases stores, Practice briefs or case studies;
  • Experience in WASH sector is an added value;
  • Excellent  technical  capacities  (state of the art photography and filming equipment preferably  High  Definition)  to ensure smooth and high quality production;
  • Ownership or possession of a high resolution state-of-the-art professional camera;
  • Experience in development communication and qualitative study;
  • Submission of three recently produced similar documents;
  • Submission of three reference letters for performing similar assignments in the last five years;
  • Submission of name and contact addresses of three references who can witness/testify good performance;
  • Fluency in Amharic and English,
  • Availability and willingness to travel to project woreda and hard to reach rural kebeles
