Project background:

Empowering Women Fish Retailers known for short as; EWFIRE project, funded by Europe Aid was launched in April 2018 for promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) among existing and new fish retailers in Sharkia, Egypt. With objective to support vulnerable women fish retailers and processors to develop profitable businesses through establishment of five women-led fish processing and retailing centres in five sites in Sharkia governorate, Lower Egypt. Through technical and social assistance, the project aims to generate (n=300) FTA and improve profitability of (n=150) women fish retailers.

The EWFIRE’s outputs is cross-cutting with the state roadmap illustrated in Egypt’s vision 2030 for empowering vulnerable collectives at poor and remote areas through establishment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The project is aligned with a set of work packages allocated as follows:

  1. Establishment of five women-led training and processing centres;
  2. Improved profitability of community-based fish processing and fish retail businesses; and
  3. Integration of women-led fish retailers and processors into formal markets.

Position Objective & Scope of Work:

This consultancy is to be carried out by either individual consultant or consultancy firm. The Business Counsellors/Coaching will provide on-going technical support to project sub-grantee community development partner, Life Makers Association (LMA), and project direct and in-direct beneficiaries as well as relevant stakeholders. She/he/they have extensive knowledge in offering one-on-one business advising on several topics including but not limited to start-up assistance, financial literacy, selling online and managing a business as well as providing needed assistance including: financial assistance and access to capital; marketing, operations, business development, and industry-specific training for SMEs owned and led by women entrepreneurs working in blue economy sector. The consultant is expected to be familiarized with project outcomes and outputs through desk review of project key documents e.g. technical project reports, database, M&E and KPIs among others, while deliverables are to be carried out through field visits in Sharkia.

Deliverables:

The Business Counsellors/Coaching Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Coaching and business counsel for five women-led SMEs via assessing and planning for best practices according to available materials and human resources
  • Design of business counseling module via allocation of valid resources to identify challenges and opportunities (i.e. SWOT analysis)
  • Provide support, guidance, and BDS services for fostering business development
  • Liaise with project sub-grantee partner, Life Makers association and other relevant stakeholders in Sharkia to deliver a set of capacity-building workshops for project beneficiaries
  • Submit a final report of 7-10 pages to highlight specific-impact achieved across project outputs and outcome’s indicators

Requirements

  • Masters’ Degree or equivalent in business administration, business development, business management, finance, or related field in business.
  • Minimum +4 years’ work experience in coaching and counselling, BDS, marketing and/or business contexts.
  • Proven record in coaching business development, delivery of capacity-building workshops and development of curriculums and/or modules (e.g. MSMEs).
  • Preferably; experience with business development of (WEE) projects and/or accelerating development of enterprises within blue sector.

Location and Duration

  • This consultancy will be carried out between December 2022 till the end of January 2023 for a total number of (25) working days
