Ayuda en Acción (AeA) seeks a full-time Program Coordinator for the development and implementation of the W4P Program. The role of the Coordinator of Programs to generate economic opportunities will be to ensure the achievement of the objectives set by the donor and Ayuda en Acción.
The Program Manager will provide overall strategic guidance to the Program and will be ultimately responsible for achieving results. His/her specific responsibilities include:

  • Establish the program strategy for the next two years according to the rest of the W4P platform members.
  • Coordinate the W4P programme in Cabo Delgado.
  • Coordinate and manage the functioning of the W4P Platform composed of different local and international partners.
  • Monitoring and follow-up of projects or prototypes of the W4P Programme. Advising on the scalability of projects or prototypes.
  • Represent AeA and the W4P Platform at regional, national and international level.
  • Develop and implement the strategy for the economic and development work of Ayuda en Acción in Cabo Delgado.
  • Participate in Ayuda en Acción meetings and provide the required support for the management of local operations.
  • Identify and develop channels for new business/generation of employment opportunities.
  • Prepare new project proposals.
  • Manage relations with donor organizations. Recruit, motivate and manage entrepreneurs.
  • Create and implement systems for information and resource management in employment and development projects.
  • Build partnerships with partners in implementation/execution. Monitor the implementation of all projects.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for all projects.
  • Prepare and review internal and external reports on all AeA work.
  • Approve expense orders and purchase requisitions for AeA work. Evaluate all projects and return knowledge to the AeA.
  • Collect data to feed the program’s follow-up reports.

Requirements

  • A minimum of B.Sc/BA in agriculture, economics, sociology, DRM, social studies, agribusiness or value chain or related fields. M.SC/MA in similar fields is desired.
  • Demonstrated capacity for leadership and management of donor funded international development projects (high knowledge of the use of logframe, project cycle, etc.); or for corporate work with similar characteristics.
  • 5-10 years experience working in the private sector or in the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly in capacity building, access to finance and marketing.
  • Extensive experience of working with start-ups/SMEs and in-depth knowledge of good entrepreneurship support practices included, but not limited to capacity building, coaching and mentoring between the private sector and/or the development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and programme design, preferably with experience in donor funded programmes.
  • Solid knowledge of the private sector/ SME landscape in Mozambique/Africa. Knowledge of the business environment in Cabo Delgado province will be assessed positively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage ecosystem actors, and build effective partnership models.
  • Ability to structure and manage complex functions, including experience in work planning and activity budgeting.
  • Excellent capacity for networking and partnership building. Excellent analytical skills and ability to adapt to change.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
  • Excellent computer skills (Office and Outlook indispensable).
  • Availability to travel locally and internationally and to travel to rural areas
    -Knowledge of the local language (macua) will be positively valued.
