Position Title:   Data/Systems Management – Intern                

Reports To:     Technical Officer, Data Management and MIS

Location: Nakuru

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision of the Technical Officer, Data Management and MIS, the Data/Systems Management – Intern will provide support in the development, design and maintenance of functional data management information systems, troubleshooting database/systems performance problems, researching new data collection, management and visualization technologies, and coordinate data entry and data cleaning activities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support in the development and design of functional data management information systems (MIS) for program information and administrative data needs.
  • Support in the deployment of developed data management information systems (MIS).
  • Support the Technical officer data management and MIS in building the capacity of project and partner staff, Ministry of health staff and community health volunteers in implementing data management, monitoring & evaluation systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database/systems performance problems
  • Research new data collection, management and visualization technologies
  • Support in the preparation of manual reports and analysis as per project needs.
  • Technical officer data management and MIS to coordinate entry of the project activity data from all project sites.

MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology
  • General exposure to SQL and accessing database structures for database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Access
  • Knowledge and/or experience with business or data modeling is an added advantage
  • Knowledge and/or experience with web technology skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Applications Development (Java, J2EE, .NET)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with open source software (ODK, DHIS2, Kobo Toolbox) is an added advantage

·         Working knowledge of business support applications such as MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Project) required
