Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an anticipated five year USAID teacher education and school strengthening activity in Egypt. The project aims to develop the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) school system across Egypt through STEM teacher education and school strengthening. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with the chief of party to provide leadership, management, and technical direction for the project
- Assist in managing technical and administrative staff and local subcontractors to achieve the project’s targeted goals
- Serve as the primary liaison with USAID, international, and state- level partners in the absence of the chief of party
- Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
- Direct implementation of the project’s strategic long-term vision
- Oversee work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
- Master’s in education or other relevant field from an accredited university and international donor experience on similar projects
- Minimum 10 years of progressively more responsible experience managing educational development projects, preferably in the field of education reform and STEM education
- Experience in pre and in-service teacher education reform
- Experience in policy and system reform
- Knowledge of the education system in Egypt
- Experience supervising and managing staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English (writing and speaking) required; fluency in Arabic preferred
