Title: Deputy Country Director

Contract: 2-year Fixed Term Contract

The Deputy Country Director will provide overall leadership of Sightsavers programme operations in country, including working with implementing partners to lead and direct the country team to manage and deliver high quality and cost-effective programmes. The role will be responsible for programme implementation and other operational duties that are assigned by the Country Director.

As the Deputy Country Director, you will ensure the delivery of programme activities identified in the country plan to achieve the expected outcomes in line with national development goals. You will demonstrate good governance within programme delivery and financial management, develop grant and partner relationships while ensuring funding and donor compliance requirements are met, strengthen and enhance relationships with government agencies, donors, media and communities to raise the profile of Sightsavers. You will be vital in building an effective country programme focussed on the successful delivery of programme objectives and therefore contribute to the organisation’s success.

As the successful candidate you will have a post graduate qualification (or equivalent0 in relevant fields related to Sightsavers thematic areas (NTDs, eye health, disability and social inclusion). You will have extensive experience within an INGO/NGO environment and have a background in a senior management position at country level. Having knowledge of project management, budget development, and resource management is important, as is a good working understanding of advocacy, research, impact assessment and partner development.

A good standard of English language skills is required for this role.
